We are searching for a Veterinary Technician who wants to use their skills to provide the highest quality of care!  This position is full time with benefits. Hours for this position are based on a 4 day work week.

We are searching for an experienced Tech, licensed in Nebraska, who has outstanding skills with pets and people. Our practice is well equipped with ultrasound, advanced dental equipment, in house laboratory, and digital radiography.  We perform advanced surgeries and thorough work ups of our patients.

VETERINARY TECHNICIAN JOB DESCRIPTION

1. Requirements/Skills

ACS only utilizes licensed vet techs.  It’s important to have excellent communication & telephone skills.  Being able to work and communicate with many different personalities, ages, and lifestyles is required.  Must have basic computer skills.  Must be able to work in a fast paced environment, handle multiple unrelated tasks, critically think and prioritize job duties.  Must also be able to lift 50 lb, work on your feet all day and write legibly.  Customer service oriented and friendly personality necessary to connect with our clients and their pets.  Professional appearance & attitude are required.

Technicians are required to be at work ON TIME and when scheduled.  Must possess above average technical skills.

2. Client Relation Duties

-Prepare records, consent forms, schedule appointments/surgeries

-Admit patients for drop off appointments, procedures or surgeries

-Have advanced and thorough knowledge of pet health, disease, behavior as well as hospital policy, procedures and medications/products & communicate this clearly to clients

-Present invoices, prepare estimates and receive payment

-Handle and triage phone calls

-Greet clients in friendly manner and work to create a professional but personal relationship with our clients and their pets.

-Enter prescriptions, pet foods, and supplies

-Fill prescriptions

-Maintain records, patient/client information, and charges in Avimark

-Perform other duties as assigned

3. Animal Care Duties

- Review records to determine vaccines and wellness testing pet is due for

-Enter and verify charges for each patient

-Assist in medical & surgical procedures

-Use proper low stress handling/restraint, know how to safely restrain fractious pets

- Maintain and use medical equipment like Idexx blood machines, cold and surgical laser, radiographic software/machine, ect

-Perform laboratory testing and know how to prepare and submit samples to outside labs

-Pre-med, induce, maintain and monitor anesthesia

-Administer treatments following veterinarian’s instructions

-Maintain on in-clinic forms/logs

-Recognize signs of disease, pain, injury, fear, nausea & triage appropriately

-Perform all routine vet tech procedures like TPR, dental cleanings, obtain radiographs, place IV & urinary catheters, ect

4. Team Work Environment

Each vet tech must be able to work well on their own or with a group.  Helping out the team is a priority.  Communicating clearly and effectively with all team members is crucial.  Each vet tech must keep up to date on CE requirements & have a valid license in order to have and hold the vet tech position at ACS.
